Brief information about Gallery Darling

Gallery Darling is located in the heart of SOFO, culture center
of Stockholm.. More precisly at Södermannagatan 28, one block
west of Nytorget, between Bonde- and Skånegatan. There is nice mixture of old cultural houses with galleries and craft, trendy little shops and a lot of cafés and restaurants.

Gallery Darling is housed in a specially preserved house from 1840
owned by the Stadsholmen, administrators of all cultural houses in Stockholm. Next to the gallery there is a silversmithy and a pottery located in a red wooden house from the 1700th century.

These houses share a very beautiful yard with cobble-stones and
a bird-cherry tree, which flowers white in the month oc May.

Gallery Darling is owned and operated by Lena Derning, who has a genuine experience as a gallerist, among others from Lilla Galleriet in the Old Town of Stockholm. Lena started the gallery in June 1995, so in the year of 2005, Gallery Darling has a ten-years jubilée. Lena is an artist herself and paints in her studio, which is in direct connection with the show-room. This room has an area of approximately twenty sq. m. (am. = 200 sq. feet). You can fit in between 15-50 paintings, depending of course of the size of the paintings. Gallery Darling is charming and unsophisticated and both artists and visitors “feel at home” here.

To be able to exhibit at Gallery Darling, the best thing is to visit the gallery and show what you paint, photogrph or express yourselfin an artistic fashion. You can bring photos of your art, and maybe one original or two. You have better doing this in the beginning of the week, when the gallery is not that crowded, for example a Tuesday or a Wednesday. Many artists have exhibited at Gallery Darling during these ten years. Both gifted amateurs as well as established artists from both Sweden and abroad.
